Welcome to Ottawa BMX Association

BMX (Bicycle Motocross) is for kids from 4 to 40 where similarly aged and skilled riders race each other on a dirt track of jumps and banked corners. It is for boys, girls, parents and friends, and it is one of the most exciting sports in the world. Ottawa BMX is a volunteer, non-profit association dedicated to facilitating BMX races in the Nation’s Capital. We are sanctioned by the Canadian Program of the ABA, and fully insured in Canada.

That's a wrap!

While we here at Ottawa BMX had hoped to extend our race season through October and essentially into the first weekend of November, it has been the weather gods who had other ideas in mind.  Due to the wet weather, and most recently the snow that we have had in Ottawa, we have no choice at this point but to declare the 2008 race season as Finished.

Ottawa BMX would like to thank the efforts of all parents and volunteers, along with those who supported the club financially, without everybody this season would not have been the success it was.  A congratulations to all of the riders who came out week after week to take part in this great sport known as BMX Racing.

We will be scheduling our Annual General Meeting within the next week and we extend an open invitation to all parents and riders who wish to attend as we will be starting the process of moving forward for the 2009 season as well as voting for the 2009 Executives, so come on out and vote, get your voice heard, and hey even nominate somebody who you feel is suitable for any one of the poistions available, and that includes yourself!  Details of our AGM such as date, time, and executive positions available will be posted shortly and we hope to see you there.

The ABA Points will not be finalized until December 31, 2008, so if you're travelling someplace warm within North America before the new year, check to see if there may be a local ABA track and take your bike along, as any points earned will be added to your total here in Ottawa, or alternatively, if travelling after the new year, get a jump start on the rest of the competition if you're able to race before our season kicks off in the spring!

Once again, a huge thank you to all parents, volunteers, and financial contributors, we could not have done this without you!

Race Recap: October 4, 2008

Mother Nature was on our side by withholding rain for our race on Oct 4th however there was a significant chill in the air which affected many riders.

Our seven motos started off with girls with Paige on Briannas heels out of the gate, though Briannna took the win.
The 6 year old novice moto was smaller than usual though the most exciting of the day with Zackari and Adrien going head to head each race, and Ben not far behind. Adrien took the win of this total points race.

The 6 year old intermediate moto was also very exciting, "Tomkat" took a nasty spill in the first race but persevered. The third race was very tight between Logan, Blaise and "Tomkat" well past the first corner. In the end Blaise took the win.

Our largest moto of the day was 7 year old Intermediates with 6 riders. The mains for this moto saw Joel take the win, followed by Avery and Lance who beat out Cody for third at the line.

The 9 year old Intermediates saw Matthieu take a huge lead early on and keep it through all the total points races.

The 11 year old Intermediates welcomed new rider Spencer who took a spill in the second race though he finished that race and came in third overall after Bailey and John.

The final moto was the 19-27 year old novices which saw much excitement as well - Kevin took a commanding lead in the first corner of the first race, both Kevin and Brendon wiped out on the 2nd race and the third race saw Kevin and Alex in tight competition. In the end the race went to Alex.

See you all on Oct 11th - a great day to race before a fabulous thanksgiving weekend.
